Sustainable Impact Challenge Terms and Conditions
Introduction
The Sustainable Impact Challenge (the “Competition“) is organised by Majra National CSR Fund (“Majra”), a United Arab Emirates government entity dedicated to promoting sustainable development and corporate social responsibility (CSR) within the UAE. The purpose of the Competition is to identify, recognise, and reward outstanding CSR and sustainability initiatives that address significant challenges within the UAE. By participating in the Competition, organisations can showcase their projects, gain recognition, and contribute to the national agenda for sustainable development.
Eligibility
Participation in the Competition is open exclusively to private and third sector organisations that are legally licensed and operational within the UAE. Sole proprietorships, freelancers, and cooperatives are not eligible to participate. Organisations must be in good legal standing with no ongoing legal or criminal investigations. Additionally, organisations must not have current business relationships with Majra or the Ministry of Economy. Representatives submitting entries on behalf of their organisations must use their personal UAE Pass for authentication and must have explicit authorisation from their respective organisations to submit projects.
Competition Duration
The Competition will commence on 26 February 2025 and conclude on 1 April 2025. All key deadlines, including the submission deadline, public voting period, and award ceremony date, will be communicated through the official Competition platform and other relevant channels. Majra reserves the right to extend or modify the Competition duration and deadlines at its discretion.
How to Participate
To participate in the Competition, an authorised representative of the organisation must log in to the Sustainable Impact Challenge website using their personal UAE Pass. Once logged in, the representative must provide the necessary company details, project profile, project details, and supporting evidence. All submissions must be completed in English or Arabic and must comply with the specified formats. Participants must accept the terms and conditions of the Competition before submitting their entries. Incomplete submissions may be rejected.
Responsibilities of Participants
Participants are expected to conduct themselves with integrity and professionalism throughout the Competition. All submitted information must be accurate and verifiable. Participants must comply with UAE laws and regulations and must not engage in any fraudulent activities, including manipulating public votes. Winners are required to participate in knowledge-sharing activities and provide project updates if requested by Majra. Participants must maintain the standards of their projects throughout the certification period and notify Majra of any major organisational changes.
Prize Award
The total prize money for the Competition is AED 750,000, distributed as follows:
- 1st Place: AED 300,000
- 2nd Place: AED 200,000
- 3rd Place: AED 100,000
- 3 Special Recognition Awards: AED 50,000 each
Winners will be selected based on evaluation metrics determined by Majra and its panel of Subject Matter Experts. Public voting will also play a role in the initial shortlisting of projects. The final selection of winners is at the discretion of Majra and its official committee. Prizes are non-transferable, and any tax implications are the responsibility of the winners. Winners must attend the award ceremony, the date and time of which will be confirmed with at least two weeks’ notice.
The winner will be notified via email following the selection process. Majra shall not be held liable for the winner’s failure to receive notifications due to spam, junk email, or other security settings, nor for the provision of incorrect or non-functioning contact information by the winner. If the winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, fails to claim the prize within three (3) days of the notification being sent, or fails to promptly return a completed and signed declaration and release as required, the prize may be forfeited, and an alternative winner may be selected. The winner’s receipt of the prize offered in this Competition is subject to compliance with all applicable federal and Emirate-level laws and regulations.
Liability Disclaimer
Majra shall not be liable for any damages, loss, or injury resulting from participation in the Competition. Participants agree to indemnify and hold Majra harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of their participation in the Competition. Majra is not responsible for any technical issues or failures that may affect the submission or evaluation process.
Disqualification
Majra reserves the right to disqualify any participant who violates the terms and conditions of the Competition, engages in fraudulent activities, or fails to meet the eligibility criteria. Disqualification may occur at any stage of the Competition, and Majra’s decisions are final and binding.
Publicity
To the extent permitted by applicable law, by participating in the Competition, the participant grants Majra the right to use their information, including their name and address, as well as photographs, pictures, portraits, likeness, voice, and/or statements made by the participant or their representatives about the Competition and/or Majra, for promotional, advertising, and publicity purposes related to the Competition. This right will be valid for a period of two (2) years from the date of the participant’s entry and may be exercised at any time, in any media now known or hereafter developed, including but not limited to live television, worldwide, on the World Wide Web, and the Internet. This usage may occur without notice, review, or approval, and without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law.
Intellectual Property
Participants retain ownership of their project’s Intellectual Property (IP). However, by submitting an entry, participants grant Majra the right to showcase the submitted projects and use the organisation’s logos and project information for promotional purposes. Confidential information must be clearly marked, and Majra will treat such information with due confidentiality.
Amendment and Termination
Majra reserves the right to modify, cancel, or terminate the Competition at any time without prior notice. Any amendments to the terms and conditions will be communicated to participants through the official Competition platform. Participants are encouraged to regularly review the terms and conditions to stay informed of any changes.
Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising out of or in connection with the Competition shall be resolved through amicable negotiations between the parties. If a resolution cannot be reached, the dispute shall be referred to arbitration in accordance with the rules of the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC). The arbitration shall be conducted in English, and the decision of the arbitrator shall be final and binding.
Force Majeure
Majra shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations under the Competition terms and conditions due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, war, civil unrest, and technical failures.
Miscellaneous
If any provision of these terms and conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. Participants may not assign or transfer any of their rights or obligations under these terms and conditions without the prior written consent of Majra. The failure of Majra to enforce any right or provision of these terms and conditions shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
By participating in the Sustainable Impact Challenge, participants acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions.
