The Impact Declaration is a simple questionnaire designed to help Majra understand how your company actively contributes to the UAE through CSR and Sustainability efforts and investments. Through this declaration, you can provide information about your initiatives and link to recent reports. This vital information enables us to understand active participants in this space and helps us identify opportunities to scale and magnify positive impact across the UAE.
Yes, based on UAE Cabinet Decree No (2) for the year 2018, the Impact Declaration is mandatory for all mainland private sector licenses, excluding sole establishments and cooperations. This requirement helps maintain transparency and accountability in the UAE's CSR ecosystem while enabling Majra to better serve the private sector on its CSR, ESG and Sustainability journey. While two of the questions in the Impact Declaration are mandated, the rest are optional. Entities who completed the optional declaration receive the “Impact Declaration” stamp which is a testament to the entity’s reporting and transparency efforts towards the UAE government.
No, Majra maintains strict confidentiality regarding individual declarations. While we publish annual trend reports highlighting aggregate achievements, we never disclose specific company details without explicit permission. If we identify exemplary practices or success stories we'd like to showcase, we will first seek your explicit consent before sharing any information.
Monetary contributions refer to financial donations or investments your company has made within CSR and Sustainability over the past 12 months. Non-monetary contributions encompass any in-kind support, such as employee volunteering hours, professional expertise sharing, equipment donations, or other resources provided to support CSR initiatives.
A beneficiary can be any individual or group that receives direct or indirect benefits from your CSR or Sustainability efforts. This includes various segments of society, such as youth & students, women & girls, elderly, people of determination, families, small businesses & entrepreneurs, creative professionals & innovators, third-sector organizations, general public, or even members of your own organization who benefit from internal CSR programs.
When calculating beneficiaries, focus on those directly impacted by your initiative. For instance, if you've conducted a training program, count the number of participants. For community projects, include those who directly benefited from the initiative. It's important to maintain accurate records and be prepared to substantiate these numbers if requested.
Accuracy in beneficiary reporting is crucial for Majra to assess the true scale of CSR and Sustainability efforts in the UAE. If you're unsure, it's better to provide conservative estimates based on available data rather than inflated numbers. Remember that transparency is key, and you should be prepared to explain how you arrived at your estimates if asked.
For projects with broad community impact, such as environmental initiatives or city-wide programs, use reliable population data for your calculations. For instance, if your project benefits an entire city, use the current year's official population statistics. However, ensure you can explain the project's reach and impact, and maintain documentation to support your calculations.
The Impact Seal is the official federal recognition for UAE entities’ sustainability and CSR practices. It has been developed to assess entities’ commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and Social Development Goals (SDGs) policies, programmes and initiatives. It aims to promote a uniform standard for CSR and sustainability by which entities can authenticate, verify, recognize, and enhance their methods and practices.
Entities who complete the Impact Declaration’s optional questions receive the Impact Declaration Stamp, a prerequisite for the Impact Seal. For those looking to obtain the Impact Seal, additional questions will have to be filled out and based on the assessment metrics, top performing entities will be awarded one of three ranking levels: Silver, Gold or Platinum along with privileges and tailored feedback reports. Applying for the Impact Seal will ultimately help entities develop and grow their sustainability and CSR practices in the UAE and will feed into the Impact Index at an aggregate level, further supporting the UAE competitiveness worldwide.
The Impact Seal features three distinctive categories: Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Each level represents a different degree of commitment and achievement in sustainable business practices. The tiered system encourages continuous improvement and recognizes companies that go above and beyond in their CSR and sustainability efforts. These categories are designed to align with UAE priorities , the ESG Indicators, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The Impact Seal is awarded on a two-year cycle. Private sector companies can maintain their certification if they continue to meet all required criteria at the end of this period. During the validity period, companies are expected to maintain their commitment to CSR and sustainability practices and may be subject to periodic reviews to ensure ongoing compliance with certification standards.
To obtain an Impact Seal, your company must first register on the Majra Stream platform and submit a comprehensive Impact Declaration. Entities who complete all the Impact Declaration’s questions receive the Impact Declaration Stamp, a prerequisite for the Impact Seal. For those looking to obtain the Impact Seal, additional questions will have to be filled out. Our evaluation process then assesses your company's CSR initiatives, sustainability practices, and overall impact. The assessment considers factors such as project implementation, measurable outcomes, alignment with national priorities, and sustainable development goals. Based on the assessment metrics, top performing entities will be awarded one of 3 ranking levels: Silver, Gold or Platinum along with privileges and tailored feedback reports.
The evaluation criteria for the Impact Seal encompass multiple dimensions of corporate responsibility and sustainability. We assess your company's commitment to environmental conservation, social well-being, economic empowerment, and governance practices. The evaluation also considers the scale and effectiveness of your initiatives, their alignment with UAE national priorities, and their contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and ESG.
Project Verification is an official process required for all companies in the UAE before they can publicly declare any initiative as a CSR or Sustainability project. This verification system ensures transparency, legitimacy, and alignment with national priorities. Through this process, Majra evaluates projects to confirm their impact and contribution to sustainable development in the UAE.
Project Verification provides official recognition from the UAE Government, establishing credibility for your CSR and sustainability initiatives. When your project receives verification, you receive an official "Verified Impact Project" stamp that can be used in your communications. This verification helps build trust with your stakeholders, including beneficiaries, partners, and customers, while demonstrating your commitment to authentic social impact and sustainability practices.
The verification process begins with submitting your project through our portal. First, ensure your company is registered on the Majra Stream platform. Then, navigate to the "Project Verification" section and select "Submit a New Project." You'll need to provide comprehensive details about your project, including its objectives, implementation strategy, beneficiaries, and measurable outcomes. Our team will review your submission and guide you through any additional steps required.
Project verification, like all Majra services, is provided free of charge. This aligns with our mission to support and encourage CSR and sustainability initiatives across the UAE. We believe that removing financial barriers helps foster greater participation in sustainable development efforts and enables organizations of all sizes to contribute meaningfully to national priorities.
The verification timeline varies depending on the project's complexity and the completeness of the information provided. Our team conducts a thorough review of all submissions to ensure they meet our standards for impact and sustainability. During this process, we may request additional documentation or clarification. While we strive to complete verifications efficiently, our primary focus is on maintaining the integrity and quality of the verification process.
